One of my greatest joys in the kitchen is coming up with a recipe using only a handful of ingredients, those ingredients so fresh, and so flavorful, playing so intensely of one another, that you think to yourself, can this even be possible? Can this really exist?
When I became a vegetarian, I had difficulty giving up two things - chicken fingers and burgers. I still miss chicken fingers, probably because they never really tasted like chicken to me, and I've never found a good vegetarian substitute, but burgers, I'm over. I'm now quite content sitting down to a veggie burger rather than a beef burger
With all this nice weather around here and talk of my family, I decided to make a familiar snack - poutine. Poutine is an authentically Canadian dish. It originated in the French-speaking province of Quebec. Poutine is made by taking french fries, sprinkling them with cheese curds, and drizzling gravy over the top. It is a magical combination.
